Hyundai Xcent

Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) had launched the Xcent compact sedan, on March, 2013 with prices starting from Rs 4.66 lakh for the base petrol and Rs 5.56 lakh for the base diesel trim, ex-showroom Delhi. The Hyundai Xcent will be available with two engine options - the 1.1-litre 2nd generation U2 CRDi diesel and 1.2-litre Kappa Dual VTVT petrol. The 1.1-litre U2 CRDi diesel is mated to a 5-speed manual transmission and delivers 72PS at 4000rpm of maximum power and 180 Nm at 1750- 2500rpm of peak torque boasting of an ARAI-ratified mileage of 24.4kmpl. This diesel engine is Euro V ready with low emission and NVH levels. Externally, the Hyundai Xcent features swept back headlamps and wrap-around tail lamps with chrome insert, chrome finish hexagonal air dam, front bumper with integrated spoiler design, dual tone rear bumper with reflectors, diamond cut alloy wheels and classy chrome door handles and high mount LED stop lamp. Inside the hood, the Hyundai Xcent comes with dual tone beige and black interiors, dashboard integrated with hexagonal outlined audio, leather wrapped steering wheel and gear shift knob with chrome insert, rear AC vents, smart key with push button start, rear parking camera and sensors, auto folding mirrors and steering mounted audio controls and Bluetooth.



Honda Amaze

Japanese car manufacturer Honda had launched the Honda Amaze, on April 2013, at the price of Rs 4.99 lakh for the base petrol model and Rs 5.99 lakh for the base diesel model. Under the hood of the Honda Amaze is a 1.2-litre, 4 cylinder, SOHC, i-VTEC engine that produces 88PS of maximum power at 6,000 rpm and 109Nm of peak torque at 4,500 rpm. Doing duty in the diesel is the 1.5-litre, 4 cylinder, DOHC, i-DTEC diesel engine that pumps 100PS of maximum power at 3,600 and 200Nm of peak torque at 1,750 rpm. The Honda Amaze comes equipped with features such as electric power steering, keyless entry, 2DIN integrated audio system with Aux0in and USB connectivity, front and rear power windows, rear defogger, fuel consumption display and cup holders.



Tata Zest

Homegrown auto major Tata Motors had launched its compact sedan, Zest, on August, 2014 at an introductory price of Rs 4.64 lakh for the petrol, with the base diesel variant costing a lakh of rupees more. The new Zest goes on sale immediately at over 470 Tata dealers across the country. Powering the Zest are a pair of extremely modern drivetrains. The petrol Zest has a turbocharged 1.2-litre motor, mated to a 5-speed gearbox. The diesel Zest is available with an automated manual transmission, or AMT. Both the turbo-petrol engine and the AMT gearbox are segment-firsts in the compact sedan market. Air conditioning, power steering and 15-inch alloy wheels are also standard throughout the Zest model range.



Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire

Maruti Suzuki unveiled the refreshed edition of its Swift Dzire compact sedan on February 2015.  Priced at Rs 507,800 onwards, the new Dzire boasts of over 13 per cent improved fuel efficiency. The 2015 Maruti Suzuki Swift Dzire is being introduced in four new body colours and will be available in both, petrol and diesel fuel options. The 2015 Maruti Swift Dzire is powered by the tried and tested 1248cc DDiS diesel engine with returns torque of 190Nm at 2000 rpm and 75 PS of maximum power at 4000rpm. The petrol variant comes with 1197cc K series VVT engine that delivers a power of 84.3 PS at 6000rpm and peak torque of 115Nm at 4000rpm. The refreshed Swift Dzire sports new body coloured bumper, redesigned headlamps with a black tinge, refreshed fog lamps bezel with chrome accents and new alloy wheels.  



Ford Figo Aspire

American carmaker Ford launched its much anticipated Figo Aspire compact sedan in India, on August 2015, with prices starting from Rs 4.89 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi). Created specifically for the Indian market, the sub-four-metre Figo Aspire hopes to woe customers with its dynamic design, smart technology, advanced safety features, and fuel efficient petrol and diesel engines. The Figo Aspire is built in Sanand, Gujarat, at Ford’s newest manufacturing plant and will be offered with three engine options – 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel mated to 5-speed manual transmission and 1.5-litre petrol engine mated to 6-speed automatic transmission. Ford will initially sell the Figo Aspire in India with ambitions of export in the near future to compete globally. The 1.2-litre Ti-VCT petrol engine  delivers a peak power of 88 PS and ARAI-ratified fuel economy of 18.2 kmpl, the 1.5-litre TDCi diesel engine offers a peak power of 100 PS and an ARAI-certified fuel economy of 25.8 kmpl. Both of these engines are paired to a 5-speed manual transmission. While the  1.5L TiVCT petrol engine mated to a 6-speed PowerShift automatic transmission produces peak power of 112 PS and a fuel economy of 17.2 kmpl.
