Isuzu-Motors-Kolkata

Isuzu Motors targets to scale up its annual production to 1,20,000 units with an investment of Rs 3,000 crore by 2020 in India. The Japanese auto maker is also on a network expansion drive and has announced its entry in the eastern part of the country. To mark the occasion, Isuzu Motors India inaugurated its first dealership outlet of east India in Kolkata, Mohanmotor Isuzu, which is its 21st in the country.

 

The company has injected Rs 3,000 crore at its plant at Sri City, Andhra Pradesh, which will get operational from 2016. Initially, the plant will have an annual capacity of 50,000 units but the company will scale it up to 1,20,000 units by 2020-21 .

 

“We are aiming 80 per cent localisation initially and 100 per cent localisation within three years of commencing production at its 107-acre Sri City unit which is expected to generate 2,000-3,000 jobs,” said Shigeru Wakabayashi, Deputy Managing Director, Isuzu Motors India.

 

Isuzu makes and sells light commercial vehicles (pick-up) and sports utility vehicle (passenger segment). The company plans to open 60 outlets across India by end of 2015-16. Presently the company has 21 dealerships in India.
