The wait is over, home grown utility vehicle maker, Mahindra has finalized the launch date of its compact SUV, the KUV100 on January 15, 2016. Mahindra had earlier revealed the name of the entry-level compact SUV, which was codenamed S101. KUV100 will be positioned below the recently launched TUV300 and the Quanto.
Under the hood, the KUV100 will be powered by a new family of engines badged mFalcon with options of both petrol (mFALCON, G80) and diesel (mFALCON, D75). Based on the new monocoque chassis, the Mahindra KUV100 will feature XUV500-inspired front grille, prominent bonnet, electrically operated ORVMs, wrap around rear design, projector headlamps, curvy roofline, and short overhangs. Inside the cabin, it will don a dual-tone interior theme with sliver accents on steering wheel, piano black finish dashboard, centre console and instrument cluster, leather upholstery and faux wood and silver finishing add more to its sporty appeal.

Come Auto Expo 2016, Tata Motors s looking ahead to unveil its new SUV- Hexa. Based on the Aria platform, Hexa was first showcased as a concept during the Geneva Motor Show. Designed by Tata Motors Design teams in Italy, UK and Pune, Hexa will be the first SUV from Tata’s stable to be built with inputs from the Land Rover.
Tata Hexa will feature a 2.2-litre, 4-cylinder, Varicor diesel unit that churns out for 156 PS with 400Nm torque. The power-plant comes mated to a six-speed manual transmission (may be an auto for a top model) and will be available with a 4WD option. On the first glance, Hexa appears to have resembles to Aria majorly in terms of its overall shape. However, the fascia boasts newly designed projector headlamps, fog lamps, a honeycomb grille and new bumper. The Hexa compact SUV offers a spacious cabin for six-adults in 2+2+2 arrangement with captain seats covered in good quality leather, and integrated arm rests. The vehicle will also be equipped with an instrument panel with a color Multi-information display and two circular dials and a touchscreen infotainment system with park assist and navigation.

Toyota Kirloskar Motor will unveil the new Fortuner and Innova MPV in the Indian car market at the 2016 Delhi Motor Show. It is expected to go on sale in India by Diwali-2016. The vehicle will be based on the same but modified ladder-frame chassis, and will get enhanced safety features and advanced technologies. Under the skin, the all-new Fortuner will be available with Toyota’s newly developed direct-injection ‘GD Series’ turbo-diesel engines. The new GD Series comprises of two motors- a 2.4-litre turbo-diesel and a 2.8-litre turbo-diesel. While the former will come as a replacement for the 2.5-litre motor, the 2.8-litre motor will replace the powerful 3.0-litre unit. The new Toyota Fortuner will come with a choice of a new 6-speed manual along with a 6-speed automatic transmission. The manual gearbox features 'intelligent' technology that promises smoother shifting by matching engine speed to transmission speed. The SUV will be offered in three grades, namely, GX, GXL and Crusade. Inside, the SUV comes fitted with trailer sway control, front and rear air-conditioning, free-standing 7-inch infotainment system, a multi-functional 3-spoke steering wheel, Bluetooth telephony, LED headlamps and and an air-conditioned compartment that helps keep drinks and food warm or cold.
New Ford Endeavour

Moving a step up from the boxy look of a utility vehicle, American carmaker, Ford had unveiled the 2015 Ford Everest during the 2015 Indonesia International Motor Show with more rounded exterior. Ford Everest will get India-bound on January 19, 2016 in the price bracket of Rs 22 to Rs 27 lakh. The new-gen model was first showcased as the 'Everest concept' in Sydney, Australia in 2013, followed by its unveiling at the 2014 Bangkok Motor Show. The production-ready model of the car looks exactly similar to the concept, save for the new alloy wheels. To be brought as completely knocked-down (CKD) units, the new Ford Endeavour will be made available with two engine options - a 2.2-litre 4-cylinder diesel and a 3.2-litre 5-cylinder diesel engine. Both the engines will get a 6-speed automatic, though the 2.2-litre diesel engined model might also get a 6-speed manual gearbox. Based on Ford's Edge design philosophy, the new-gen Endeavour is expected to be more upmarket than its predecessor. In order to enhance its off-roading capabilities, the company has developed it on a new ladder frame chassis. What will add more to its drivability is the inclusion of a new independent coil-spring layout at the rear instead of the leaf spring setup found in the current model. The new Ford Endeavour is ornamented by features like a Terrain Management System, power-folding third row seats, a 9-speaker audio system with a sub-woofer and an 8-inch screen touchscreen display powered by Ford’s latest SYNC2 infotainment system.

The Tata Nexon concept from the 2014 Auto Expo is likely to see production by the end of 2016. The sub-four-metre compact SUV will aim straight for the Ford EcoSport which has ruled the roost for quite some time now. The Nexon will be based on a slightly modified X1 platform, which also underpins the Bolt and Zest. Powering the car will be Tata’s new 1.5-litre diesel engine and a 1.2-litre petrol motor.
Renault Duster 2016

The 2016 Renault Duster will see major tweaks in its exterior looks. It will now drop the multi-slat chrome grille for a single slat grille housing a large Renault lozenge, headlamp also appears to feature the new cluster and gets a new taillight cluster, and larger alloy rims in the top-spec variant. The interior is expected to be slightly tweaked, which was last updated in the 2015 Renault Duster. As for equipment, it could continue offering Renault’s 7 inch MediaNAV infotainment display, Bluetooth telephony, and cruise control.The 2016 Renault Duster is likely to retain the current engine lineup, which includes the 1.5-liter dCi diesel engine available in two power outputs: 85 PS and 110 PS. Other than the 5-speed and 6-speed manual gearboxes.

Korean carmaker SsangYong has launched its Tivoli B-segment SUV in the UK last summer. Speculations are that the SsangYong Tivoli could be seen on the Indian road in 2016. The SsangYong Tivoli will be offered in three variant levels - SE, EX and ELX, while for those who want further individualisation, the My Tivoli programme offers a wide number of further choices. The SsangYong Tivoli SE is available with a choice of a 1.6 litre Euro 6 petrol or diesel engine with manual transmission. Finished in a grey cloth trim, it includes 16-inch alloy wheels, cruise control, a stop/go system (petrol), smart steering (normal, comfort and sport modes), an RDS/Bluetooth radio and seven airbags.
Maruti Suzuki YBA

Eyeinga bigger pie at the compact SUV space of the country Maruti Suzuki will launch a new compact SUV by the end of this financial year. Spy-shots has revealed that the new compact SUV, which is codenamed as the YBA, has heavy design clues from Suzuki Vitara. YBA is expected to give a run for money for players such as the Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300. It is expected to debut at the 2016 Auto Expo in February 2016. However, whether this model will rolled out through normal Maruti dealerships or the premium Nexa outlets is yet to be confirmed. The pricing of the YBA is expected to start under Rs 7 Lakhs which is just like the EcoSport while the S-Cross will be priced starting at around Rs. 10 Lakhs and will be launched much earlier in calendar year 2015 while the YBA will make its debut in 2016. Under the hood, the Maruti YBA is expected to carry 1.2-litre K-Series engine and 1.3 litre Fiat sourced diesel engine. The YBA SUV, a sub-4m model, could also get Maruti's latest SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle System) technology, which was debuted with Ciaz SHVS.
Honda To Launch BR-V
WHEN: February 2016

Eyeing the compact SUV space in the country, Japanese automaker Honda will launch the BR-V compact SUV next year. In all possibilities the automaker might look at the 2016 Delhi Auto Expo in February to debut the car in the country. Honda could use the 1.5-litre i-DTEC engine that comprises of 4 cylinder from the Amaze, but a possibility of a new 1.6-litre i-DTEC engine on the BR-V cannot be ruled out. The petrol model would be strapped with the 1.5-litre i-VTEC serving the Honda City. At the front, Honda BR-V bears a chrome designed grille with the company's emblem at the center. On either side of this, there are sleek headlamp clusters that are further improved with chrome inserts. The safety arrangements that the Honda BR-V comes with, are not specifically laid out. However, it might come with dual airbags for front passengers, which keeps them shielded in case of a mishap.

After its success in the MPV and premium SUV segment, Japanese auto maker, Toyota is now eyeing the compact SUV segment with the much talked about Rush. Toyota Rush, which is slated for a New Year launch has already tasted success in Malaysia and other Asian markets (sold as Daihatsu Rush). Toyota Rush will be powered by a 1495cc 1.5-litre VVT-I petrol engine, which makes 108 PS of power at 6000 rpm and a torque rating of 141Nm at 4400 rpm. Meanwhile the diesel offering will be a 1.4-lire engine, which has a max power of 67 PS and 170Nm of peak torque. Rush will don a masculine look with inspirations from its elder sibling, the Fortuner. The front gets a perforated radiator grille, which is wrapped by trendy headlamps. Inside the hood, Rush will feature same trims, colors and plastics as the international model. The roomy cabin will have a two tone color scheme, steering wheel mounted with audio controls with leather wrap for top end variants, the front windscreen to have a standard solar film that aids in reducing the heat buildup, 2-DIN infotainment system and a manually operated air conditioning unit.
