Philipp von Sahr, President, BMW Group India with the all-new BMW M6 Gran Coupe. Will fight it out with the Audi RS7 in luxury coupe segment

BMW India has launched its latest addition to the BMW M Range, the 2014 M6 Gran Coupe at Rs 1.75 crore (ex-showroom Delhi) at the BMW Group Training Centre, Gurgaon.

The four door coupe is the M division version of the 6-series Gran Coupe. The M6 is based on the M5 sedan platform and sports the same 4.4-litre V8 engine with M TwinPower Turbo technology combines two TwinScroll turbochargers with Valvetronic, Double-VANOS and High Precision Injection to develop an output of 412 kW/560 hp and an impressive torque of 680 Nm. The sprint from 0 to 100 km/hr takes 4.2 seconds and top speed is 250 km/h.

The M6 Gran Coupe comes with Ecopro, Comfort, Sport and Sport+ modes which alter the characteristics of the car at the touch of a button. In the comfort mode, the car is set the softest to soak in poor roads our country presents. Shift into the Sport or the Sport+ mode and the suspension gets stiffer and with it, the M6 feels sharper on the handling front compromising its supple ride in the process.

Among the visual changes to the 6 series Gran Coupe, the M6 gets a more aggressive body kit including a special carbon fibre roof that is exclusive to the BMW M models, 19 inch stock wheels with an option to upgrade to 20 inchers, sportier bumpers including a larger air intake on the front combined with flared wheel arches, and trademark BMW M quad-pipes and a diffuser at the rear.

Now when it comes to interior, technology and connectivity, the all-new BMW M6 Gran Coupe is equipped with 20-way power adjustable and heated M Sport seats, M leather steering wheel, M centre console, a 10.2-inch display with inbuilt navigation, rear-parking camera with 360-degree parking assist, dual-zone automatic climate control and a keyless entry and stop/start system, BMW iDrive (the on-board Driver Information System) with touch controller, BMW Navigation Professional (integrated Global Positioning System – GPS), Bluetooth and USB devices, high-end Surround Sound system from Bang & Olufsen and BMW Apps.

In terms of safety features for this latest addition to the BMW M Range, the coupe comes loaded with six air bags, Active M Differential, M Dynamic Damper Control, M Dynamic mode, M Compound Brakes, Active Protection with Attention Assist and Active headrests (front).
