datsun go+ launch go plus

Vincent Cobee, Global Head - Datsun, Guillaume Sicard, President - Nissan India Operations and Arun Malhotra, MD - Nissan Motor India at the GO+ launch

The new Datsun GO+ has been launched today at a price of just Rs 3.96 lakh, for the base D variant. In a clear indication of just how important a market India is for Datsun, the Global Business Head Vincent Cobee, was in Mumbai for the launch.

Datsun is choosing to call the GO+ a ‘compact family wagon’. It is surely the smallest 7-seater on sale in India, but is a versatile and smartly packaged car. The new Datsun India GO+ will be available in a total of 4 different variants, and customers will have 5 colours to choose from.

The 4 variants of the new Datsun GO+ are:

Datsun GO+ D: Rs 3.96 lakh

Datsun GO+ D1: Rs 3.98 lakh

Datsun GO+ A: Rs 4.33 lakh

Datsun GO+ T: Rs 4.81 lakh

The 5 colour choices include Ruby, Gold, White, Silver and Grey.

Similar to the smaller GO hatchback, the GO+ base variant ‘D’ does not have either an AC or power steering. The D1, which costs just Rs 2,000 more, has a few additions like a left-side wing mirror and door pockets with bottle holders on the doors. The ‘A’ version adds air-conditioning, while the top-of-the-line ‘T’ variant also has power steering, front power windows, central locking and Datsun’s innovative ‘Mobile Docking Station’, or MDS.

Presently, the entry-level compact segment is dominated by Maruti Suzuki, which has 75% market share, followed by Hyundai, which has 22% market share. Datsun, which so far only sells the GO hatchback, already has the remaining 3% market share, with the company looking to seriously increase its presence in the market.

To ensure its game plan stays the course, Nissan and Datsun will double their dealership presence, from 128 dealers presently, to 260 dealers nationwide in the next 12 months.

Datsun is also offering a segment-first, 2-year, unlimited mileage warranty on the new GO+.
