Honda-City-2014-Launch

Honda Cars India Ltd. (HCIL) has launched the all-new 4th Generation Honda City for the Indian market with prices starting from Rs 7.42 lakh for the base petrol trim and Rs 8.62 lakh for the base diesel variant, all prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. First introduced in India in January 1998, Honda has sold over 4.3 lakh units of the City sedan across the country and has been the Japanese car manufacturer’s most successful offering in India.
 
 
Speaking on the occasion, Yoshiyuki Matsumoto, Managing Officer, Honda Motor Company and Representative of Development, Purchasing and Production in Asia & Oceania Region said, “City has been a high performing product for Honda with over 2.2 million customers across 55 countries. The 4th Generation Honda City is poised for a great response from Indian customers amongst which the car enjoys a very high aspirational value.”
 
 
Matsumoto went on to add, “With the 4th Generation City now available in Diesel in India, Honda Cars is shifting gears to significantly expand its operating universe in the Indian market. The new launch will be a very important facet in this process as the car has witnessed an exceptional success ever since it was launched here.”

 

The diesel City is powered by the 1.5-litre i-DTEC diesel engine that also does duty in the Honda Amaze. The powerplant delivers 100 PS of maximum power at 3600 rpm and 200 Nm of peak torque at 1750 rpm. The engine has been mated to a newly developed 6-speed manual transmission. The diesel City claims an ARAI-ratified fuel efficiency of 26kmpl.

 

The petrol variant of the Honda City is powered by the same 1.5-litre i-VTEC engine that did duty on the outgoing model. The motor churns out 119 PS of maximum power at 6600 rpm and 145 Nm of peak torque at 4600 rpm. It has been mated to Honda’s CVT and boasts of an ARAI-certified mileage of 18kmpl. The petrol variant is also available with a 5-speed manual transmission which claims a fuel efficiency of 17.8 kmpl.

The fourth-generation Honda City comes equipped with a host of safety features including pedestrian injury mitigation technology, driver and front passenger SRS airbags. ABS with EBD is being offered as standard across all diesel and petrol CVT variants.

 

On the inside, the new Honda City features auto AC with touchscreen control panel, integrated music system with 8 speakers and 5-inch screen, engine start/stop button with smart key system, steering mounted controls, audio and hands-free control, rear A/C vents and rear parking camera with multiple views.

 

The CVT model will be equipped with a paddle shift option which can be operated in both D and S mode and allows the driver to enjoy a manual transmission-like driving feel.

 

On the exterior, the 2014 Honda City comes with sunroof, 15-inch alloy wheels, redesigned fog lamps and sleek turn indicators on the door mirrors.

 

The all-new City is available in 5 trim levels both in petrol and diesel - E, S, SV, V and VX with manual transmission. Additionally, the City is also available with CVT in SV and VX petrol variants only.

 

The fourth-generation Honda City will be available in a range of six colours – Golden Brown Metallic (New), Carnelian Red Pearl, Urban Titanium Metallic, Alabaster Silver Metallic, Crystal Black Pearl and Taffeta White. The new Honda City will come with a 2 years or 40,000 kms warranty as standard for all customers.
