General Motors India has launched the updated Chevrolet Cruze priced between Rs 13.70 lakh to Rs 16.19 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), which is Rs 40,000 to Rs 50,000 (depending on the variant) less than the older version. The slash in price can be attributed to the recent four per cent exice duty relief, which the auto maker is passing on to its customers.

The new Cruze will have a Gen2 automatic transmission, which the company claims to be more fuel efficient. However, the fuel economy remains unchanged at 17.3 kmpl (ARAI) for the manual variant. The only new addition to the models has been the turn indicators on outside rear view mirrors.

“The Cruze has received an overwhelming response from consumers across India since its launch in 2009 and continues to be the largest-selling Chevrolet nameplate globally. The updated Chevrolet Cruze with all new Gen2 automatic transmission and also provides turn indicators on outside rear view mirrors, both of which are crucial for Indian road conditions,” said Rajesh Singh, Vice President, After Sales, Marketing and Sales, General Motors India.

The updated 2014 Chevrolet Cruze comes with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission mated to the turbocharged 2.0-litre VCDi engine. The Chevrolet Cruze delivers 166 PS of undulated power on tap with 380 Nm of torque making the driving experience simply exhilarating. The all-new Gen2, 6-Speed Automatic Transmission has a fuel efficiency of 14.81 kmpl (ARAI) and the manual variants return a fuel efficiency of 17.3 kmpl (ARAI).

The new Cruze also dons the dual-port front grille with gold bowtie, newly designed front and rear bumpers, new dual bezel design headlamps, new alloy wheels and new fog lamps with chrome surround across all trim levels.

The car comes loaded with features like a six-way power adjustable driver’s seat, dead pedal, premium speakers, power-operated windows with the express-up & down feature on the driver's window, Bluetooth music streaming and pinch guard protection for improved customer delight.

In terms of safety and comfort, the 2014 Cruze is equipped with dual front airbags and two side airbags and a strong and rigid ‘safety cage,’ which has reinforced pillars with tubular bars, a anti-lock braking system (ABS) with electronic sensors, a Passive Entry Passive Start (PEPS) automatically controls the central locking system, anti-theft alarm and ignition.
