new hyundai grand i10 launched

(L-R) B S Seo Managing Director & CEO, Joongyu Lee - Honorable Ambassador of Republic of Korea, Rakesh Srivastava- Sr. VP, Sales & Marketing, CH Han- Sr. Executive Director- HMIL with the new Grand i10.

It’s finally here; the much-anticipated Hyundai Grand i10 was launched in New Delhi earlier today by the Korean ambassador to India. The new Hyundai Grand i10 will be available in a total of four petrol and four diesel variants for the time being, with the company considering an automatic version to be launched later on.

The Grand i10 is essentially an Indianised version of the new i10, which will receive its global launch at the upcoming Frankfurt Motor Show next week. The Grand i10 has a stretched wheelbase and segment first features like rear AC vents, music system with 1GB memory, and specialy diamond-cut alloy wheels. Apart from the lengthened wheelbase, the Grand i10 also has a differently-shaped C-pillar, with a larger rear windshield. Hyundai claims this was done in response to customer clinics held around the country.

Two engine options will be available, including Hyundai’s tried-and-tested 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine. The other engine option is a new 1.1-litre three-cylinder diesel, christened the U2 CRDi. While the petrol engine produces 83 PS of power and has an ARAI-certified fuel-efficiency of 18.9 km/l, the diesel Grand i10 has 71 PS and manages 24 km/l.

For the time being, both the petrol and diesel versions of the new Grand i10 will be available in 4 variants each, in a total of eight colours. A five-speed manual gearbox is standard fitment on both, but Hyundai has confirmed it will launch an automatic variant of the Grand i10 at a later date.

Prices for the new Hyundai Grand i10 are as follows:

Petrol (ex- showroom, Delhi) Rs.

Diesel (ex- showroom, Delhi) Rs.

Speaking at the launch, Hyundai GM of sales and marketing, Nalin Kapur commented that the small car segment is witnessing further segmentation, which has prompted the company to launch a product like the Grand i10. In Hyundai India’s model range, the Grand i10 will slot in between the i10 and the i20.
