maruti ciaz launch ranveer singh

Maruti Suzuki MD Kenichi Ayukawa with Ranveer Singh at the Ciaz launch

Maruti’s roll of the dice to capture the mid-size sedan market is now firmly in play. The new Ciaz sedan has been launched to take on the likes of the Honda City and Hyundai Verna, to name but two.

Ciaz – which is an acronym for ‘C’omfort ‘I’ntelligence ‘A’ttitude and ‘Z’eal – has been launched in a total of 10 variants, details of which are below:

Petrol MT

V: 7.46

V+: 8.04

Z: 8.73

Z(O): 9.10

Petrol AT

V+: 9.20

Z: 9.88

Diesel

V: 8.56

V+: 9.17

Z: 10.0

Z(O): 10.37

All prices in lakh rupees, ex-showroom Mumbai

Apart from these 10 variants, Maruti is set to offer a new Z+ grade for both diesel and petrol models of the Ciaz. The Z+ will have all the features of the Z(O) in addition to which there will be a Smart Play system. Maruti officials did not give us any details, but the assumption is that Smart Play will be a high-end infotainment system focused on the rear passengers.

The Ciaz will be offered with a reasonably high level of standard equipment, which includes power windows, power steering and air-conditioning as standard of course. Rear AC vents, a rear windshield defogger, projector headlamps and electrically-adjustable ORVMs with turn indicators are also standard across the trim grade.

Seven colours, including white, silver, beige, brown, maroon, black and gray will be available for customers to choose from.

The Ciaz appears to have plenty going for it. The pre-launch campaign has seen the company register 10,000 + bookings for the car. According to Manohar Bhatt, Maruti’s chief of Marketing, the company wants to replicate its success in the A3- segment with the Dzire in this A3+ market. The existing competition is no pushover, but this time around Maruti seems to have a car which has enough and more going for it.
