new mini cooper s launch

For true auto buffs, the naughty Mini Cooper S is a car really worth looking forward to, and BMW India has responded to customer calls and launched the very quick and very fun Cooper S.

Under the bonnet is a twin-turbo 4-cylinder petrol motor which puts out 190 PS and 280 Nm of torque. If that doesn’t get you excited, wait till you hear about the performance: 0-100 km/h in just 6.7 seconds and a top speed pf 233 km/h. The Mini Cooper has always been a little firecracker of a car, and the new Cooper S continues in this worthy tradition.

Transferring the power to the front wheels is a standard 6-speed automatic transmission. There’s even launch control for those dramatic standing starts.

There are three driving modes: Green, Sport and Mid, and I think those names are self-explanatory. On the safety front you get ABS and airbags of course, along with a crash impact sensor, dynamic stability control and a tyre run-flat indicator.

As with all Minis, there are endless customization options. The Cooper S is differentiated from its ‘normal’ brethren with a new front bumper, visible air intakes and centrally-mounted twin exhaust pipes at the rear. However, you could opt for different colours for the wheels, roof, wing mirror housings etc. you can choose different body graphics as well. There are endless options to customize your Mini; however remember it will all cost a pretty penny.

The new Mini Cooper S comes with Mini Connnected app as standard, which allows users to sync and use their social media profiles on Facebook, Twitter and FourSquare on the go from within the car itself. However, if customers want additional goodies such as Navigation Professional, Harman Kardon wi-fi, head-up display or LED headlamps, it will all add to your bill.

The new Mini Cooper S is available in Pepper White and Volcano Orange as non-metallic paintwork and in the following nine metallic paintworks: Moonwalk Grey, Blazing Red, Lapisluxury Blue, British Racing Green, Iced Chocolate, Thunder Grey, Deep Blue, White Silver and Midnight Black.

The regular Mini Cooper S, with just the basics, will retail for an all-India ex-showroom price of Rs 34.65 lakh. Add some goodies from the optional catalogue, and you’re looking at a bill that can easily breach the half-crore mark.

The MINI Cooper D 3-door and the MINI Cooper D 5-door were launched in India in November 2014. The MINI 3-door is now available in two variants: MINI Cooper S 3-door and MINI Cooper D 3-door.

In 2012, the BMW Group introduced MINI as a premium brand in India. Presently, the MINI model range in India includes the MINI Cooper S 3-door, MINI Cooper D 3-door, MINI Cooper D 5-door, MINI Convertible and MINI Countryman D. MINI has established four exclusive outlets – Bird Automotive (Delhi), Infinity Cars (Mumbai), Navnit Motors (Bangalore) and KUN Exclusive (Hyderabad).
