Indian auto manufacturer Tata Motors has launched the new Aria with prices starting from Rs 9.95 lakh onwards. The most significant change has taken place under the bonnet with the 2014 Tata Aria being powered by a new 2.2-litre VARICOR engine, with a power output of 150PS and a high low-end torque of 320Nm aimed at better pick-up and quick engine response, returning an ARAI-ratified fuel efficiency of 15.05kmpl.


In a statement released to the press, Tata Motors has stated, “the new engine with VGT (Variable-Geometry Turbocharger) is electronically controlled with a lower-end flat torque, which kicks in from as low as 1500 rpm, for a more precise response from the engine, improving in-city driving capabilities.”


On the exterior the updated Tata Aria will come with new stylised decals, clear lens tail lamps and black bezel double barrel headlamps. On the inside, the refreshed Tata Aria comes equipped with a new sounds system that has been “exclusively tailored” by JBL from Harman. The sound system has been acoustically tuned for optimum performance and delivers an impressive production quality with four mid-range speakers, four tweeters, one centre speaker and 1 sub-woofer. Safety features include ABS, EBD, ESP and Traction Control System.


The refreshed Tata Aria is fitted with a new timing belt, with improved durability to 200,000 kms. A new replaceable cartridge-type pre-filter, provides for improved filtering for enhanced robustness of fuel injection system, thereby reducing cost of maintenance. The new VARICOR engine comes with a warranty of 3 years or 150,000 kms, whichever is earlier.


The Tata Aria will be available in three trim levels – Pure LX, Pleasure and Pride 4x4, and comes with a vehicle warranty of 3 years or 100,000 kms, whichever is earlier.
