Yamaha Alpha


Yamaha Motor India has launched its latest automatic scooter ‘The Alpha’ at the Auto expo 2014 at Rs 49,518 (ex-showroom Delhi). The two-wheeler maker plans to sell two lakh units in one year.
“We see a lot of potential for the scooter market in India as we expect it to reach 3.6 million units in 2014. We pal to sell around two lakh units of the new gearless scooter in a year time,” Hiroyuki Yanagi, President, Chief Executive Officer and Representative Director, Yamaha Motor.  This model will be manufactured by India Yamaha Motor (IYM) and marketed by Yamaha Motor India Sales (YMIS).
The New Alpha is developed to target family customers with its concept of ‘Easy to go and high utility city mover’. The new model has an air-cooled 4-stroke 113cc engine with CVT (Continuous variable transmission) with a mileage of 62 km/litre.
At the Auto Expo, the company has displayed 16 models including concept models, motorcycles and scooters. The theme of the Yamaha stall is to bring out the essence of the Brand – “Revs your heart”.
The two-wheeler major, which sold 4.6 lakh units in 2013, aims to sell 6 lakh units in 2014. Yamaha has invested Rs 1,500 crore in its new plant which will be operational by 2014 end.
