Michael Perschke, MD, Audi India with Audi 100- Car won by Ravi Shastri for Champion of the Champions in 1985


Audi India, the German luxury car manufacturer, marked its association with 15th Vintage & Classic Car Rally in Jaipur with style. The car rally was organised by Rajasthan Tourism & Rajputana Automotive Sports Car Club, Jaipur along with Audi India/Audi Jaipur. Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India inaugurated this gala event.

Commenting on the rich charm of the rally, Michael Perschke, Head, Audi India said: “I am delighted to continue our partnership with the Rajputana Automotive Sports Car Club in Jaipur - the capital of royalty and luxury. Rajasthan, the land of Maharajas has been setting the standards for luxury in India for centuries. It is a matter of great joy to see cars after cars that have chalked down automobile history, and each car has a brilliant and glorious story to tell of its own. We at Audi love to celebrate the history and what better than the iconic Audi 100 of cricket legend- Ravi Shastri to be displayed- a car we had restored with Audi Jaipur over the last year.”



Vintage cars on display at 15th Vintage and Classic Car Rally, Jaipur


The pink city of India was tinged in reddish hue by the magnificent cars of a bygone era from Audi world that was channelised via Audi India. A series of pre and post-war cars ascended on the path to spread their regal beauty on the inaugural day of the Audi India organised rally. The participating cars were displayed at Hotel Jai Mahal Palace in Jaipur. A star crowd puller among them was the Audi 100 which was gifted to the cricket legend Ravi Shastri for his brilliant performance in the World Series Cricket in 1985. Apart from retaining the vintage aura, Audi also attempted at interacting the visitors with their modern-day offerings by displaying a lot of new Audi cars.

On the 2nd day of the rally, the cars were flagged off from Hotel Jai Mahal Palace Lawns. The high point of the day was the tour of the historical cars through the historical places of the royal city. Spectators enjoyed the rich fusion of past and present. Some of these cars have featured in movies like Gandhi, Queenie, Zubeida, Bhool Bhulaiya, Veer and Sher which is under production. Besides, they have also found their place in several commercials.
