26 Feb 2014 Update: Fiat has confirmed that the new Linea will be launched in the country on Tuesday, March 4th. The new Linea will receive upgrades both inside and out to keep it competitive in the premium mid-size segment. The new Linea will compete with the Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento and the new Honda City.

Face-lifted Fiat Linea Expected Soon

WHEN: Last quarter of 2013

HOW MUCH: Rs 8-11 lakh

ENGINES: 1.4-litre petrol, 1.4-litre T-Jet Petrol, 1.3-litre multijet diesel

COMPETITION: Hyundai Verna, Volkswagen Vento, Skoda Rapid, Honda City, Renault Scala, Nissan Sunny, Ford Fiesta

Having already launched the refreshed Linea last year in some overseas markets like Turkey, Italian car manufacturer Fiat is all set to introduce the facelifted Linea sedan in the Indian market in the last quarter of FY14.

The new refreshed Fiat Linea will come with a redesigned front grille, restyled bumper, new fog lamp clusters and chrome work. At the rear, the bumper will get subtle changes with an additional chrome strip. The side profile of the new Fiat Linea will remain unchanged.

On the inside, the facelifted Fiat Linea will get a new three-layered two-tone dash that has a premium look and feel. The centre console now comes with a new integrated audio system and more contemporary looking AC vents with useful cubby holes situated right above them.  The instrument cluster in the refreshed Fiat Linea is now seen with chrome-ringed recessed dials and circular centre.

The refreshed Linea will be available with two engine options - the same 1.4-litre T-Jet petrol and 1.3-litre Multijet diesel engines as the current car. The 1.4-litre FIRE petrol engine will not be offered in the facelifted Linea. An automatic version will also come later in 2014.

The Linea in its present avatar will continue to be sold as the Linea Classic, a model which Fiat India launched recently with some success. The two-pronged approach to the mid-size segment will see Fiat compete in both the "C-Low" and "C-High" ends of the market with the Linea Classic and new Linea respectively.
