HOW MUCH: Rs 45 Lakh
ENGINE: 3.8-litre V6 GDI produceing 315PS and 5.0-litre V8 GDI that churns out 426PS
COMPETITION: Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6, Jaguar XF

Hyundai has globally launched the next-generation Genesis luxury sedan. Autojunction.in has learnt that the South Korean car manufacturer is gearing up to bring its flagship sedan to India to compete with the Mercedes-Benz E-Class, BMW 5 Series, Audi A6 and the Jaguar XF.

Needless to mention that Hyundai will import limited units of the Genesis luxury sedan to India and the car will sit at the pinnacle of its product offering in the country. The Hyundai Genesis will come to India as a CBU unit and is expected bear a price tag of approximately Rs 45 lakh.

Globally, the Hyundai Genesis is offered with two engines options - a 3.8-litre V6 GDI that produces 315PS and a 5.0-litre V8 GDI that churns out 426PS. Both engines are mated to 8-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. The 3.8-litre V6 variant is also available with an all-wheel-drive system if one so desires.

Barring all the frills and thrills that are expected in a luxury sedan in this price point, the Hyundai Genesis also comes equipped with a 9.2-inch high definition touchscreen interface and a 17-speaker Lexicon audio setup.

Our guesstimate is that Hyundai will bring the 3.8-litre variant in India. However, at an estimated Rs 45 lakh, the Genesis luxury sedan could prove to be a lot pricey for its brand value. Based on Indian psyche, one would rather drive home a Merc, Beemer, Audi or Jag rather than a Hyundai after shelling out that kind of cash from their pocket.
